Often, the best ideas come when you’re not focused on the problem at hand. Brushstrokes, keystrokes fly from your fingertips before you realize what you’re doing.
My best writing comes in bursts, when I’m walking. Or right before bed. I whip out my phone at the street corner and furiously type a note. I have tons of notes on my phone. Fragments, phrases, and thoughts that feel inspired by something pure.
By the time I sit down at the computer, the actual writing process from blank document to draft may be as short as 30 minutes. Well, that’s for pieces I write from the heart.
Like this one.
For articles that require more structure and research, I swim against the current. It’s another type of work. Another part of the brain. It’s still valuable, but it’s not my favorite type of work.
But the hard work, late nights, and sweat are all necessary. Grit builds the foundation that enables the flow state.
Tapping Into Flow State
It’s easiest to enter flow state when you create from the heart. When you’re unashamedly, honestly yourself. You have to be vulnerable and bare a bit of your soul. If you start worrying what people may think, you’ll freeze. Your mind takes over.
The Secret to Flight
Don’t flap your wings so hard. It only exhausts you.
Close your eyes. Lean into the currents, say yes. Let the wind raise you higher and higher. So easy. That’s what Eagles do.
Oh, this is the secret to life as well.

Rebirth: A Fable of Love, Forgiveness, and Following Your Heart
The pen, the keyboard, the camera – these are simply tools for creating your work. They are not the purest vessels of your art. Of your heart. You are the vessel.
There’s no one in the world quite like you. So when you create from the heart – with as few mental filters as possible – no one else can replicate that work.
In a world where we’re constantly comparing and copying, sincerity takes us above the noise. It’s quieter up here. When we create something original that matters to us, how can it not attract the right people?
Trust yourself as the greatest vessel of your work. Use the unique DNA of your experiences, perspectives, and background. And further, use your silent hopes, fears, and purest dreams.
Can Art Change the World?
And by art, I mean anything you create for yourself, and for the world. A product, a company, a team, a cause. A family. Writing, painting, dancing, singing. Our suffering world needs more people to create and connect through love.
Maybe this is one way to change the world.
Can my writing ignite a flame in some hearts? Maybe not yet, not at this scale. It needs to start first with me. And it has. Rediscovering the joy of writing has changed me. I’d been yearning to start this blog for years, and I convinced myself it was stupid. And now, I don’t want to stop. I create because I love it. It’s for me, and it’s natural. It makes me come alive.
Art may be a way to express and perceive what we already know, deep inside our hearts. When art of any form stirs something in us, we’re reminded of who we are. And maybe it inspires us to reach for something greater.
Achieving flow state is a magical thing. The harder you try to be great, the more obstacles stand in the way.
Let go. Stop overthinking. Come as you are. You already have everything you need. And let the magic flow.
